Rome Odunze Scouting Report 2024 NFL Draft

Rome Odunze is a fantastic receiver prospect. He is a guy who profiles as a Quarterbacks BEST FRIEND and a #1 type of option in an NFL offense. He’s a bigger bodied receiver who uses his frame to box out defenders and attack the ball in the air. He specializes at winning contested catch situations.

He’s a rocked up 6 foot 3 and 215 pounds. He has been clocked running 4.34 and is a former high school sprinter.

Some scouts do question how his speed translates. He sometimes lacks EXPLOSION out of his breaks, but is so FLUID and such a smooth mover that it doesn’t affect his ability to get open.

He understands how to use his frame and position himself against man coverage. He also understands where to find the soft spots in zone coverage. He works back to his QB, and fights to get open.

He was a four star recruit coming out of high school in Nevada. He was a football and track star who won Gatorade player of the year in 2019.

He’s a confident and smart player who had a ton of success at Washington. He produced back to back seasons of over 1,100 yards and scored 20 TD's.

He is a contested catch specialist who uses his frame to his advantage.

He is FLUID MOVER AND An advanced route runner. He's a technician and student of the game. He has incredible body control and balance, as well as good contact balance. He uses his long arms and awesome catch radius to snatch the ball out of the air.

HE IS A FREAK ATHLETE. He came in at #58 on Bruce Feldman's freaks list. He was clocked running a 4.34 forty and is a homerun threat who can take the top off a defense.

He’s a fluid mover who gets in and out of his breaks quickly.

He has a ton of explosion and is very hard to bring down in the open field.

He has the perfect build for an X receiver in the NFL with the frame to add more muscle. Projects to be a good blocker at the next level, his effort is not lacking.

HE IS A BIG TIME PLAYMAKER and showed up for the big games!!!!ON the downside….his overall game does need more polish. He lacks some attention to detail when it comes to the nuances of the position. He is still raw in some aspects and learning. He needs fine tuning but has all the tools you want.

He has explosive speed but had trouble getting separation at times. HE relied a bit too much on pure talent and athleticism. AND played in a very pass happy offense at Washington. HIS QB and both WRs as well as a few offensive lineman should go high in this draft as well.

HONESTLY you have to dig deep to find any weaknesses when it comes to Rome Odunze game. I have seen scouts compare him to Courtland Sutton, Mike Evans and Davante Adams. I see a lot of similarities in how he uses his body and how smooth he is as a route runner.

Those are some big names to compare him to, but the UPSIDE IS THERE when it comes to Odunze.

OVERALL he is a phenomenal wide receiver prospect who is an absolute LOCK to go in the first round, even in a stacked class. He has the talent to be the first wideout taken in MOST years, but falls victim to being in the same class as Marvin Harrison Jr. He still should go top 10, and I think probably goes somewhere between picks 5 and 9. A lot of people “EXPECT” him to be there at #9 but there is a good chance he could be gone by then. He has a CHANCE to go top 5. We still have a long way to go until the draft, but as of LATE JANUARY, this is where I stand on WASHINGTONS STUD WR ROME ODUNZE.

Appreciate the work you do. Rome would be a dawg for the Bears and a great compliment to DJ. Hope the Bears make some great franchise altering moves this offseason. Bear Down!
