Potential Seahawks OFFENSIVE FREE AGENTS THAT COULD FOLLOW SHANE WALDRON

Today I wanted to talk about potential FREE AGENTS that could follow Shane Waldron from Seattle to the Chicago Bears.

THE FIRST guy I want to talk about is NOAH FANT, I mentioned him in the ALL-22 breakdown. He is a former first round pick who had never quite developed into what people thought he would be, but he has at least 400 receiving yards in all 5 seasons of his career and 14 touchdowns. HE had his worst season in 2023, only getting 414 yards, and his first year NOT scoring at least 3 touchdowns. He didn’t get a single one this year.

HERE IS WHY I WOULD LOVE TO SIGN FANT. He JUST turned 26 years old, he spent the last two years WITH Shane Waldron and knows the system well.

Poles will like him because he shouldn’t break the bank, would sign on to be our TIGHT END 2 possibly, and HE SCORED A 9.88 ON THE RELAVITVE athletic score. I think he could really help Waldron incorporate more 12 personnel, and with DJ Moore, Cole Kmet and another WR taking away attention, Fant should be able tot get open.

He's easily my favorite target from the Seahawks this offseason.

MY RUNNER UP would be Evan Brown. He is just 27 years old and has 40 starts over the last 3 years. He played with the lions and seahawks. I think he could be a value addition at center, that wouldn’t stop us from still drafting a rookie. THIS is also something Offensive coordinators like to do. BRING over a center that knows the system. GETSY did it with Patrick, and Waldron could do it with Evan brown. ESPECIALLY since we need a center.

Brown is also very athletic, he scored a 9.34 on his RAS score.

Last up would be Damien Lewis. He was a 3rd round pick in 2020 and has made 54 starts for the Seahawks over the last 3 years. I think he COULD get a contract similar to what Nate Davis got last year, so I doubt Poles is going to pay that for another free agent guard.

Now you can also add TE Colby Parkinson and RB Deejay Dallas to the list. Dallas is nothing more than a 3rd down back, but he has value as a pass blocker and receiver out of the backfield for cheap, to similar to Travis homer. ANOTHER note Travis homer worked with Waldron for two years in Seattle. Maybe homer will have a bigger role, he still has one year on his deal. With Waldron coming over, maybe the bears decide to roll with Khalil Herbert, Roschon Johnson and Travis Homer. I still think we draft a running back though.

THE ONLY OTHER NAME People are talking about is TYLER LOCKET.

LOCKETT IS NOT A FREE AGENT This year. HOWEVER, Lockett will be 32 years old next year, and the Seahawks are in some cap issues, and lockets cap hit is $28 MILLION THIS YEAR, and $27 NEXT YEAR when he will be 33.

The Seahawks have an OUT in his contract and can take a 19 million dollar dead cap hit and spear it over 2 seasons and CUT LOCKETT this offseason. They would still have DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith Njigba, SO THAT IS A POSSIBLITY.

Does poles want to sign a 31 year old receiver? I doubt it, but If we could get Lockett on a 1 or 2 year deal for around what we would be paying Darnell Mooney or less? AND still draft a WR like Marvin Harrison or Rome Odunze?

I GUESS it is a possibility, I just wouldn’t count on it!!!

I do think its likely we sign at least ONE player from the Seahawks OFFENSE during free agency this year though, ill preview that more as we get closer!!
