BEARS TRADE FOR RYAN BATES

BREAKING NEWS THE CHICAGO BEARS HAVE TRADED FOR BILLS CENTER/GUARD, RYAN BATES!!!!!!

What’s up guys Swift here covering everything Chicago Bears related and Ryan Poles has made his FIRST move of the offseason, trading a 5th round pick in this years draft to the Bills for RYAN BATES.

IF THE NAME SOUNDS FAMILIAR, YOU HAVE A GOOD MEMMORY.

Bates was one of the FIRST Players ryan poles ever tried to sign 2 years ago. HE signed Bates as A RESTRICTED FREE AGENT, and the bills had a week to match the offer, they ended up matching and he stayed in BUFFALO. Poles would then pivot and sign Lucas Patrick.

NOW HE has officially traded for RYAN BATES, and is bringing him to Chicago once and for all.

RYAN BATES IS A FORMER UDFA out of Penn state, he JUST turned 27 a few weeks ago. He is still young, entering his prime, and has AWESOME athleticism.

He scored a 9.57 on his RAS score, he has 32.5 inch arms and 9.5 inch hands. He ran a 5.09 forty yard dash and was topped out at 18.5 miles per hour. He’s started 19 games for the bills over the last 3 years, and played in 73 games total. He was a TACKLE at Penn State, but has been known for his versatility with the bills. HE played mostly right guard early in his career, but has spent a lot of time at CENTER as well the last two years.

THE BIGGEST QUESTION is what position does poles plan to play him at?

I see some people already saying the bears got a new center. I THINK this is more of a depth move and a guy who will CHALLENGE Nate Davis. The two positions he has played most are RG and Center, but he’s also played a little Left guard as well. IN 2022 he started 15 games total for the bills and only allowed ONE sack all year long.

He gave up 28 pressures and only had 3 penalties, basically he would have been one of the BEST offensive lineman on the bears last year, but the bills had him as a backup.

Last season he spent most of the year as a backup and didn’t get to play much. The bills gave him a fresh start and were able to acquire a 5th round pick from us.

I think Ryan bates is a great depth piece who can start at RG or Center. Poles clearly likes him and tried to sign him to a 4 year deal 2 years ago. Now he gets bates for the next two years. A nice addition before free agency.

Bears Remaining draft picks: After trading a 5th rounder the bears now only have FIVE picks in this year’s draft.

TWO IN THE FIRST, one in the 3rd, and TWO in the FOURTH ROUND.

NO MATTER how you feel about the quarterback position, I think its NOW even MORE imperative that ryan poles trades DOWN from ONE of those first rounders in order to acquire some additional picks.
